EA Sports and Its Relationship with FIFA’s Community,The State of FIFA 18, Ultimate Team

Football is a way of life and whoever watches football regularly and supports a club, knows how much it means to see your team lift the league title at the end of the season, except if you are a Liverpool fan, or be crowned the champions of Europe if they win the UEFA Champions League. All these are unforgettable moments for football fans, but unfortunately, the “beautiful game” isn’t that pretty in video game form.

First of all, I am one of the biggest fans of EA Sports’ football franchise, FIFA. Not only do I watch as much football as I can, whether it is the English Premier League, the German Bundesliga, the Spanish La Liga or another obscure league with crazy derbies like the Turkish league, but I invest myself in the world of football and FIFA. I play FUT Champions regularly and reach Gold 1 and Gold 2 consistently, so this is by no means a complain from a below average player. In fact, it is the cry of a passionate football fan and FIFA player.

FIFA 2009 is where players got to see the real introduction of Ultimate Team as a new mode. The concept in itself was very attractive, especially to people who used to collect Panini stickers and trade with their friends to complete their collection. The idea kicked off right away and performed tremendously, gathering a wide YouTube audience and football lovers who want to play with their favourite players on one team. As years passed by, one by one, EA Sports starting adding new features, updating card designs, revamping the UI and sometimes even adding new modes after release, such as the FIFA 2014’s World Cup Ultimate Team mode.

Whoever played the last few iterations of FIFA or is a member of the game’s Reddit community, will know exactly the problems I am going to discuss already. Since the introduction of Ultimate Team, EA has slowly shifted their entire focus towards the mode and started neglecting other modes within the title. But just when exactly was Ultimate Team implemented? There was a brief period of two years where EA Sports owned the rights for the UEFA Champions League competition, now owned by Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer series. During those two years, the studio released a standalone “UEFA Champions League 2006–2007” game, which allowed users to assemble a team full of their favourite players. You could obtain these players through opening packs.

However, in FIFA 18 and FIFA 18, the main issue lies in the game’s broken gameplay mechanics, unstable servers, illogical ball physics and mind-boggling refereeing. In FIFA 18, several of these issues were raised, but since it was the first year of FUT Champions, a new competitive mode where players can qualify to regional and international tournaments according to how many wins they manage to accumulate from the available 40 matches every weekend, that’s why it is dubbed the Weekend League. One of FIFA 18’s main issues were inconsistent servers, disconnecting players from matches and giving them a loss for the match even though once you are kicked, you are sent back to the game’s menus and they are completely. Another issue raised was the irregular ball bounces where no matter how many times you tackle the player, it always falls back to the opposition.

One thing we all have to take into consideration is how passionate FIFA fans want to play a good, balanced and stable FIFA game. EA recently received massive backlash concerning Star Wars Battlefront II and their microtransaction-focused multiplayer progression system, making one of the game’s developer’s comment, the most disliked comment in Reddit’s history. As a result, EA had to remove microtransactions from the game until a later date, and as of the time of writing, they haven’t been implemented back yet. Now imagine the reaction if the FIFA community came together and decided to boycott buying FIFA points.

With all due respect to Star Wars Battlefront II players, but FIFA definitely brings in more microtransaction revenue to EA than Battlefront. The recent #FixFIFA movement should be a wakeup call to EA, with players starting petitions, encouraging people to boycott buying packs during promotions and tweeting the hashtag to EA Sports’ twitter and reaching top ten trending in the world. However, due to the lack of real competition from Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer in terms of providing an in-depth online mode and the continuous stream of money going to EA, why would they fix anything?

This year is no different, unfortunately. FIFA 18 is the first iteration of the franchise I have played in years where I can finish a match with both teams scoring more than 15 goals combined. That’s just not normal and never happens in the world of football. Once the kick off whistle blows, prepare yourself to see your team standing around and doing nothing while the opposition runs casually through your team and scores on the first minute. Now it’s your turn to kick off and pull it back. You kick off and score the equaliser in the exact same way, and the cycle continues until one of you manages to break it. The problem is not just in the kick off boosted goals, some of them are the player’s fault of course, but when Tottenham Hotspur’s Son scores a 360 no-scope longshot from 35 yards out, what can I do about that really? When you consider EA Sports’ recent focus in switching FIFA into a competitive eSport with millions of dollars on the line, everything has to be adjusted to completely remove RNG elements to allow for a level playing field.

FIFA 18 Pro Clubs Improvements Detailed

Many of you have asked EA SPORTS to give Pro Clubs the attention it deserves. Well, attention it has got in FIFA 18 New.

Two of the new features include a brand new player growth system and the ability to customise your club crests and kits to your liking for your Pro Club in FIFA 18.

Your Player Growth will be determined on how you do through the match and based on your overall match rating which will be decided out of 10. You’ll be able to see how each of your individual attributes are improving after each match.

Skill points are also a new feature in Pro Clubs this year. You’ll be able to spend earned skill points in order to give your Virtual Star the traits that you want. These can be specific traits to Physical, Defending, Dribbling, Passing, Shooting, Pace, or Goalkeeping.

Customisation options now. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to upload your own images for your club crests but you will be able to pick from 24 Kit templates. You’ll then also be able to add Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary colours to your kit. Club badges will also have template options for you to choose from, with the ability to customise.

Is this enough for you this year? What more additions would you like to see in Pro Clubs in the future? Let us know in the comment section below.

There's A Player On FIFA 18 With Two Clubs

There's a player on FIFA 18 Ultimate Team who is listed twice on the game, with two different clubs.

Often, players will pop in the game for two different clubs when a January transfer takes place and you then have the old and updated version.

But in this instance, given that we aren't into the mid-season of the vast majority of the high-profile leagues on the game, that isn't the case.

Saudi Arabian goalkeeper Mutab Sharahili is the player to have been given the rare privilege of having two cards on the game. A 62-rated bronze goalkeeper, one version sees him playing for Al-Nassr, while he's at Al-Raed in the other.

FIFA haven't just put him in twice with two clubs for a laugh though - what's actually happened, as per the Daily Mail, is that he spent time on loan at Al-Raed and then returned to his parent club. But because he returned to Al-Raed on a permanent basis, you now get two Sharahilli's in the game.

As far as I'm aware, excluding icons, he's the only player on the game with two clubs. What a hero.

In another brilliant FIFA 18 Coins tidbit, one of the other worst players on FIFA 18 isn't even a real footballer - that being Tomm Käßemodel.

Käßemodel is listed as a central midfielder for German second division outfit FC Erzgebirge Aue. In reality, it turns out that while Käßemodel is on the books at Erzgebirge as a member of the first team squad, he isn't actually a professional footballer. Or even a semi-professional footballer.

In fact, this low scoring maverick is in fact the club's kit man. Because Erzgebirge needed at least four members of their first-team squad to have come through the club's youth academy, he has made the game. Though he does spend his time preparing kits these days, he is a former member of the youth set-up.

SLOPPY Arsenal star has misplaced the most passes in the Premier League this season

While the Gunners are already guaranteed a place in the last-32 of the Europa League, they’re already well behind Manchester City in the Premier League table.

The Gunners are currently sixth in the standings, a massive 12 points behind the leaders.

And while summer signing Alexandre Lacazette has seemingly found his feet at the Emirates (when Arsene Wenger decides to play him, that is) there’s been the usual inconsistency from a number of first-team stalwarts.

And ahead of this weekend’s North London derby, it seems one man in particular holds a fairly unwanted record for a central midfielder.

According to a list of left-field statistics in the Premier League this season, Granit Xhaka has apparently misplaced a staggering 153 passes so far – more than any other player in the top-flight.

Which is pretty damning, considering the Switzerland international is tasked with running the midfield show alongside Aaron Ramsey, and acts as a feeder for more forward-found Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Despite this, the 25-year-old is Wenger’s go-to guy at the moment, having started all 11 of Arsenal’s Premier League games this season.

And he’ll likely make it 12 against arch-rivals Tottenham on Saturday.

On a brighter note, he’s notched the club’s joint-most assists this season, but has yet to find the back of the net.

OH NO! FIFA 18: This Ultimate Team ‘exploit’ will give you thousands of free coins

This year, EA Sports released FUT Squad Battles, which sees you play AI controlled teams for FIFA Coins.

At the end of the week, your reward will depend on where you finish – which, if you win a load of games, will be considerable.

If you play on the hardest setting, Ultimate, you’ll get even bigger prizes.
So far, so good.

But as Eurogamer reports, there’s an ‘exploit’ that essentially allows gamers to trick the computer into giving you free money.

Gamers noticed that if you have a few bronze players in your team – and shield the ball with them – the AI will commit a foul when trying to dispossess them.

In theory, all you need to do is keep doing this to get the players sent off – making it far easier to win the game.

It’s not known why this works, however – in Ultimate difficulty – the AI is hyper aggressive and more likely to lunge in.

The ‘exploit’ has spread far and wide across the community – with YouTube tutorials and demonstrations readily available.

Fans are unsure if EA will ban the trick – but it certainly seems to be giving some players a huge advantage.

On the plus side, with prices for FIFA Coins at a premium, it’s a genius way of gaming the system – which is, for now – within EA rules.

HERE’S THE TUTORIAL BELOW.

The up-and-comers generally have lower ratings, so itll take more attention to get them up to speed and ready to supplant the vets.
